Food Photographer & Content Creator
With camera in-hand since he was a teen, Alessandro (Alex) Squadrito has a genuine love for the art of photography. Capturing elegant yet uniquely edgy images, Alex’s distinct photographic style and affection for food and travel has seen him work with some of Australia’s leading restaurants, hotels and food brands.
Growing up in a large Italian family, Alex has fond memories of Italian feasts, developing a passion for good food from a young age. Alex credits his Italian heritage for his innate understanding of food and its ability to spark joy among family and friends, which is beautifully expressed in his imagery.
Alex first started taking photography seriously when he was just sixteen, enrolling in short courses while he was in high school. After completing school and numerous certificates in photography, Alex went on to study a Bachelor of Arts in Visual Communications, Majoring in Photography at the Raffles College of Design and Commerce. This provided Alex with a strong theoretical understanding of image composition, one which is evident in the high quality of his work and ability to craft the ultimate foodie photos.
Combining his photography talent and shared love of food, Alex along with his sister and cousin started one of Sydney’s most successful food blogs For Food’s Sake. Originally experimenting with food photography and styling at home, as the team prepared recipe posts, Alex grew his specialised skill and portfolio as For Food’s Sake started working with more restaurants, cafes and hotels.
Alex is now an influential presence on the Australian food scene as a content creator in his own right, styling and capturing imagery for brands, cafes, restaurants, bars and hotels. With his keen eye for detail and sharp, punchy imagery, Alex photographs food in glorious detail – creating the kind of pictures that illicit strong social media traction and instant cravings!
Alex has also traveled extensively, combining food, travel and lifestyle photography to create detailed location guides with a brilliant visual edge. Alex’s high-end execution and passion for his craft have seen him work with a variety of brands including The Urban List (as a freelance venue photographer) Uber Eats, Visit Victoria, McDonald’s, KFC, Oporto, BWS, Roadshow, The Langham, Melbourne, Shangri-La Hotel, Sydney and with Australia’s Dessert Queen Anna Polyviou. Alex can also host food styling and photography workshops, sharing his insider skills and knowledge with candour and enthusiasm.
As a bespoke food photographer and content creator, Alex styles and captures impeccable imagery. Bold, colourful and engaging, Alex’s photos bring food to life.
