Model, media personality, writer, traveller, blogger, cook and most recently MasterChef Australia contestant, Michelle Walsh is a zealous creator. Whether she’s whipping up a moreish feast in the kitchen, travelling to one of the world’s most exotic locations, sharing insights on her namesake blog Mrs Walsh, Michelle or capturing her creative dishes for Instagram, she does so with style, wit and a good dose of humour.
Early in her career Michelle travelled the world as a model and then television reporter. Her role on Escape with ET saw her diving out of planes, swimming with sharks and croc-wrangling, all while looking effortlessly glamorous. Michelle’s love for adventure never waned, with travel writing and blogging something she continues to this day as the self-confessed adrenalin junkie who mixes family travel with luxurious escapes and activities including surfing, rock climbing, skiing and skateboarding.
Michelle has also worked as a columnist for publications including the Wentworth Courier and freelance writer for a number of national publications, while her natural way with words and cheeky sense of humour have seen her work as a stand-up comedian and MC. Michelle has also showcased her writing on her blog Mrs Walsh since 2010, sharing original recipes, food, wine and travel tips and lifestyle inspiration.
Becoming a mother to her daughters Montana and McKenzie sparked anther creative pursuit for Michelle, who added business woman to her CV, developing her own label that made a unique line of slippers, intimate apparel and baby wear which was stocked nationwide in David Jones.
A long-time passionate home cook and entertainer, Michelle demonstrated her prowess in the kitchen and exceptional plating skills on MasterChef Australia 2018. Michelle says that she adores Italian style cooking and cites chefs Heston Blumenthal and Massimo Bottura as her inspiration – evidenced in her ability to marry art and food to create delicious, beautifully presented dishes. After her MasterChef experience, Michelle can add Gordon Ramsay, Nigella Lawson and Maggie Beer to her list of mentors, inspiring her to further pursue her culinary ambitions.
Michelle’s kitchen wizardry has seen her partner with Verde Dining’s Chef Antonio Ruggerino and contemporary Chef Federico Calvito, to launch Michelle e’ Toto, an exclusive monthly dining experience held at Toto Private Dining. She is also in the process of writing her first cook book Fast n Fancy. Is there anything this wonder woman can’t do?!
